[hi] [low] October 10, 2005 The view from our back porch at the Peaks of Otter Lodge. There was a nice view of a lake outside, but the fog rolled in just before we took a picture. (1 picture)

[hi] [low] October 10, 2005 Pictures from the Skyline Drive, a 105 mile drive through the Shenandoah National Park. Charlotte got to see a big caterpillar and we saw some deer. (52 pictures)

[hi] [low] October 11, 2005 Pictures from the Blue Ridge Parkway, the main focus of our drive home. It's a 469 mile drive through Virginia and North Carolina that ends in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park just outside Tennessee. We didn't get to drive the entire drive; we had quite a bit of fog our first couple days so we ended up using the interstate to save some time (and because we couldn't see anything anyway). [hi] [low] October 11, 2005 Pictures from the Smoketree Lodge. It had a very nice common room with puzzles, magazines, a fireplace, pool table, and books. (12 pictures)

[hi] [low] October 12, 2005 More pictures from the car. Charlotte's baby was riding on the dashboard for a little while, but slid off when we went around a curve. We told Charlotte that's why we wear seatbelts, so she made sure her baby had a seatbelt too. (5 pictures)

[hi] [low] October 12, 2005 Charlotte decided she wanted to take some pictures too. This is a very good reason to have a digital camera. Here is her view from the back seat, including many pictures of shoes, headrests, and other blurry objects. She also figured out how to point the camera at herself to take her own picture. [hi] [low] October 12, 2005 Pictures from Chimney Rock. They have a 26-story elevator to the top of the rock, which is most famous for being a filming location for the movie The Last of the Mohicans. You can see for 75 miles from the top of the rock. After that, we walked a trail to the base of a 404 foot waterfall. (35 pictures)

[hi] [low] October 12, 2005 Some pictures Charlotte took at Chimney Rock. (4 pictures)

[hi] [low] October 12, 2005 Pictures from Waterrock Knob, the last stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Christina was enrolled in a summer science program at Western Carolina University in 1996, and her group did a project on acid rain's effect on the vegatation. She thought they took their data somewhere near the Parkway, and it turned out we (luckily) stopped at the exact place. She took some pictures to compare to those from her camp. We also caught the end of a pretty sunset here. (9 pictures)

[hi] [low] October 12, 2005 Pictures from our final night out, at Middlecreek Valley Chalets in Pigeon Forge, TN. Charlotte loved the ping-pong table, and keeps asking to go back. (18 pictures)

[hi] [low] October 12, 2005 Charlotte's view inside our chalet in Pigeon Forge. (17 pictures)

[hi] [low] October 13, 2005 Pictures from Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg, TN. They have a very long tunnel where you walk under a tank in the aquarium holding hundreds (thousands?) of fish, including several sharks. There's a kids area where they get to touch horseshoe crabs as well as stand up inside a donut-shaped fish tank. (28 pictures)

[hi] [low] October 13, 2005 Some pictures around Pigeon Forge. Charlotte wrote her name quite nicely on a paper inside the toy store. (8 pictures)
